Tiger in a Jar join GenPop

Directing duo and creative studio Tiger in a Jar joins GenPop (General Population), the Los Angeles-based live action production company recently launched by creative and director Ben Conrad. Composed of filmmaking couple Matt and Julie Walker of Salt Lake City, Utah, Tiger in a Jar’s effortless, dreamlike composition and filmic aesthetic has placed them firmly at the forefront of a new genre of tabletop and lifestyle filmmaking.

Julie Walker’s vision stems from a background in Graphic Design, while husband Matt studied filmmaking and found a passion for visual storytelling. Combining these talents, Tiger in a Jar creates heartfelt, impeccably produced films that move the senses. Their work frequently celebrates the tactile experience of cooking, immersing the viewer in the process with their fluid, naturalistic images.

Tiger in a Jar has helmed several visual stories for Kinfolk Magazine, including a piece that won the Award for Best How-To Film at the first annual Saveur Video Festival.

Tiger in a Jar’s films inspire people to be passionate and pursue the life they want, a quality that has long resonated within the blogging community. In 2014, Tiger in a Jar’s web series for Olive Us earned them the Iris Award for Best Video under Technical Quality.

Their command of the medium quickly caught the attention of major brands, leading Tiger in a Jar to create content for clients like Disney Parks, HP, the Scripps network, and VW, and to produce a mini docu-series in Europe for kitchen brand Neff.

Already recognized for their influence on the current culinary movement, Tiger in a Jar now partners with GenPop to bring their fresh perspective to more advertising projects. Along with Ben Conrad, Tiger in a Jar is welcomed to GenPop by Executive Producer Pierre Nobile, Managing Director Alex Anderson, and Nick Moceri, who heads up the company’s Film and TV department.

Matt and Julie remark on the partnership, “Our approach to filmmaking is to tell stories in as beautiful and cinematic way as possible. We’re excited to contribute our vision and aesthetic to the incredible team and roster at GenPop.”

Tiger in a Jar joins a cast of top-level creators represented by GenPop, including Ben Conrad, Andrew Bruntel, Fellow, Riley Blakeway, Collider Studio, Josh Forbes, Master of Shapes, Andrew Gura, Renascent, Steven Ilous, Geoffrey Lillemon, and Pieter Henket.
