Back in '91 I was a consultant to the chairman's office at Coke on both advertising and corporate communications. It was moronic concepts like that one that led to Coke's relationship with CAA (later that year) which of course didn't sit very well at McCann no matter what spin they put on it at the time, claiming that they were "thrilled with the results" of the collaboration. What choice did they have?
Of course nothing lasts forever. CAA eventually outlived its usefulness, Coke sent them packing, and even McCann lost the domestic Coke business. Always Coca-Cola! :-)
"...fulfill our promise to our consumers." Consumers? Eep! Talk about corporate speak. Blah.

PermalinkI don't know what is scarier, this awful ad or the fact that it could have just as easily run in 2001.
