Saatchi copies Saatchi - again!?

We've all see Saatchi copies Saatchi? Where Sunny D and Verve both caught the sun.

Seems third time’s the charm, with this new ad from Saatchi’s NY, which uses the same idea as the Sunny D TVC created by Saatchi’s NY only months before, which itself is a copy of the "sun as ball" idea created by Saatchi’s London eight years earlier for the drink, Verb. I think this is a case of three strikes and someone’s gotta be out.

Chris Palmer of Gorgeous shot this PSA. He must have shot the Verb ad as well.

I think these ads are for the same folk, just different boards up at the end there. The CDC is part of the Dept of Health and the Verb thing is one of their programs. I could be wrong but that's what I thought.

Yep. Verb is a specific program of the CDC and US Department of Health. What likely happened is the USDH came up with more money and asked them to recut a longer version. There are definitely some of the same shots in the second one.

Ah OK, well that explains a lot. Dunno which I edit I prefer though.

The only other non-verb/PSA "glowing ball" that I've seen isn't from saatchi, it's for GE Money bank and rather ugly in comparison. Perhaps this ball widget is a new toy, and so these ideas came after the toy?

Or the idea is good. Economic say... :)
