From my cold dead hands, Groupon

Groupon will no longer be offering gun-related deals. According to Julie Mossler, Groupon Spokesman:

All scheduled and current gun-related deals featured on Groupon North America, including shooting ranges, conceal-and-carry and clay shooting, have been placed on hiatus while we review internal standards that shape the deal inventory we feature...The category is under review following recent consumer and merchant feedback."

Naturally this is not sitting well with gun shop owners, who last time I checked, are people who run a legitimate business. Unsurprisingly, some gun shop owners aren't very happy about it. Michael Cargill, who owns Austin-based Central Texas Gun Works is calling for a boycott after Groupon canceled his deal abruptly.

Cargill is calling on pro-gun and pro Second Amendment supporters to boycott Groupon because "the message they're sending is, 'Look, we do not want to support law-abiding citizens taking time out of their schedule to learn the safety surrounding firearms.'" In the meantime, Cargill plans to honor the deals purchased before the cancellation.

Groupon, meanwhile, is most likely jumping on the bandwagon, er debate, in an effort raise its stock price above 5 dollars.

Speaking of, lame, remember when Groupon tried supporting human rights by releasing a really offensive Super Bowl ad that made light of human rights in Tibet? Can't wait to see what they do next.

P.S. be sure to tune in to Adland for the only Super Bowl Coverage that matters.
