Home Depot spends all day apologizing for chimp-tweet

Home Depot on twitter is spending most of their work day apologizing for sending out the tweet above, where the question is: "Which drummer is not like the others?" and not "what were they thinking?". The three drummers are two black men, and one person wearing a chimp halloween mask. Not a monkey mask, chimps are apes. It took around ten seconds before twitter erupted in a collective all caps fest, and the office pool on how fast that social media person will get fired is already at twohundred dollars.

People have tweeted their outrage to Home Depot and NAACP. I swear, Home Depot's feed right now is personal tweet apologizing to every single person who tweeted that they took offense.

Here's a few people who aren't amused.

And here's a person who didn't take offense. Apparently, he's a unicorn.

From this we have learned several things, one of which is that people insist that chimps are monkeys, despite the word which is borrowed from the bantu language meaning "great ape" describes what they actually are. Chimps are great apes. Rule of thumb that we teach little kids in kindergarden: monkeys have tails (there are exceptions to this rule, but it's the easy way to differentiate). Oh and the other thing is; for goodness sake stop it with the chimp/monkey things already.
