Lee Cooper Ad Exec Arrested For Poster in India

Gyro Worldwide alerts us the launch of their latest campaign for the English denim company Lee Cooper, which has garnered "an extreme reaction in India". Just as Richard Gere was charged for violating India's public obscenity laws for kissing Indian actress Shilpa Shetty at a fundraiser last month in Jaipur (a charge which was just dropped this week), the Indian government has come a-callin' for a Lee Cooper executive in response to a billboard that featured a model with her Lee Cooper denim's pulled down to waist level. The Indian-based brand manager was thrown in jail because of a few people's objection to the ads and is now currently out on bail and awaiting response from a court.

From Gyro's press release:

Gyro Worldwide is getting ready to shoot a brand new global Lee Cooper campaign and we PROMISE to try our best not to get anyone else thrown in prison. Come to think of it, our new viral campaign for Lee Cooper, called "The Bottom Inspectors," probably won't go down real well in India, either...looks like we'll never shoot a "Bottoms Inspectors Go To Bombay" episode! Check it out here at youtube. Steven Grasse, founder and CEO of Gyro Worldwide, had this to say: "For some reason just about everything Gyro does seems to upset someone somewhere. We have a real knack for getting people¹s panties in a twist."
