Wild Gift's Pete Riski Wraps a Christmas Gift

Pete Riski, who is represented for commercial work in the US by Wild Gift Content, has directed a heartwarming Christmas campaign for the Finnish healthcare company Terveystalo, created by TBWA\Helsinki and produced by Directors Guild Helsinki.

The film walks us through an ordinary Christmas morning, as a bearded man prepares for a new day. In the background, we hear a voiceover discussing health issues related to a certain patient. It’s only when we realize the man is Santa Claus, gearing up for another Christmas shift, that we learn the voiceover is his medical report from Terveystalo. The conclusion? Despite his age, the patient is in surprisingly good shape. The spot whimsically announces that Terveystalo is now the official healthcare partner of Santa Claus.

Pete Riski through Directors Guild Helsinki does what they do best – telling an emotional story through a small, intimate vignette of life. Beautiful music, sensitive cinematography, and elegant editing do the rest. While the story is simple, its emotional impact, paired with the message, is powerful. What more could you ask for from a Christmas film?

I love the storytelling here!

It's so funny to see something filmed in Lapland on the Finnish side look so incredibly familiar to me in all of the details. It was really cute to see all the tomtenissar / joulupukki have the same hats and Santa wearing proper nokkasaappaat / näbbstövlar. I loved the accumulation of Santa helpers between scenes. Nice.

I mean, I am just assuming it was filmed further north, but truth be told, that house can have been anywhere in the north nordics. I'm assuming north because of the snow and shoot-date.
