Apple caught copying again?

Once it's a coincidence, twice it might be something else.

Not long ago Apple got their ear pinched for that Lugz advert twin.
Now their recent Intel spot looks a lot like a music video from The postal Service.

See the video hosted at The Last Minute Blog who spotted the likeness.

On the one hand - how different can chip factories look really? On the other, this looks a lot like demo love.

I'm glad other people botherd taking screendumps. For frame by frame comparisions, che out these stills from both films here and here as well.

Amazing how quick that postal service video seems to have spread over the web, on youtube and whatnot.....

Wonder what Lee Clow has to say about it. This is the second time in as many months that TBWA have churned out near identical executions to others..

out of curiosity, does anyone know who shot the postal service video? did that shoot it at an intel chip facility?

adverlicious has in interesting concept, i dig that, but what is your criterion for what you post? It doesn't seem very curated.

I wish I knew who shot the video, to me it looks almost like Apple bought leftover footage from it!

Yippy skippy.

Hmm. Is TBWA getting lazy or what? Sheesh. ;)

Well now we know Cult of Mac has found out that it is indeed the same directing duo behind both films

but The PS's Such Great Heights video was made by directing duo Josh Melnick and Xander Charity, whose working name is Josh & Xander.

Not to mention throwing in a Moby track. Thinking Differently here, but they shoulda just used the whole postal service video - music and all.

Oh. I forgot. It

The Postal service are not so happy, as noted on On the Postal service own website 01/19/06 -A Note from Ben
"It has recently come to our attention that Apple Computers' new television commercial for the Intel chip features a shot-for-shot recreation of our video for 'Such Great Heights' made by the same filmmakers responsible for the original. We did not approve this commercialization and are extremely disappointed with both parties that this was executed without our consultation or consent. -Ben Gibbard, The Postal Service "

Meanwhile, adfreak reports that the video was just added to iTunes.
