Billboards, print ads and whatever else you can think of can with Blippar contain augmented reality worlds. Blippar states, humbly:

I wonder if I'll be just as lazy about downloading this app as I was with QR codes (which I have yet to bother installing on any phone.)

What's in it for me? Do I get something special for bothering to download and waste space on an app that just unlocks hidden content in ads? I don't see consumers going for this.
Same exact challenge as with QR codes then.
Augmented reality is amazing but to say it will eliminate QR codes is like saying Porsche is gonna kill the sale of bicycles. This statement makes a false assumption that QR codes are only being used in advertising.
1. It can really only be used for a large company to do advertising. Qr codes are much easier, and cheaper to create. Small businesses like a local frozen yogurt shop will stay be able to use them where as AR is not feasible anytime soon. Corporate America however will without a doubt transition to AR.
2. How does it get made? When will it bee seen in enough place that the average person will even know what they are looking at? Its taken QR codes 17 years to be recognizable in the states.
3. Why will QR codes need to be replaced. For example, it will take some time before people recognize the "b" so why not have a QR that takes you to the Blippar app.
