Ah I love this. The Southern California Honda Dealers aren't going to be in the Super Bowl. But that's not going to stop them from earning some media and being helpful as per their usual campaign anyway. They're hear to gently take the piss out of Super Bowl commercial clichés. Like babies, animals, something blowing up, etc. And for every cliché that gets spotted, the Helpful Honda Dealers will donate money to the Southern California Boys and Girls Clubs In ever increasing amounts. Fantastic idea that actually does some good. It'd be awesome if they did get a lot of earned media for this idea. But either way it's such a sure bet they'll end up donating a chunk to kids who need it. Either way it's a win. Sorry, couldn't help myself. Also: great choice of casting, too. Shows you there's no need for bells and whistles to make a great spot if you have a simple message with some personality. And while you can play along at Helpful Bowl I have to say, they missed a few clichés. Thankfully Adland has that covered. Back in 2011 we provided you with Super Bowl Bingo cards that feature a few more clichés Honda missed. And the sad part is, almost all of the clichés we chose are still relevant. Which says a lot about the state of advertising.
