Estée Lauder: "My favorite part about being a woman is living in full color."

Estée Lauder decided today to highlight one of the people working for them, namely a scientist who in a short clip on Twitter explains: "My favorite part about being a woman is living in full color." 

This is part of their campaign "highlighting their women's workforce" where women who work at Estee talk about being women. One of these people is Cricket Temple who works as a scientist for the Estée Lauder Companies. See below. 
 

The tweet that shared this part of the Estee Lauder campaign was bombarded with replies from shocked women who were flabbergasted at both what Cricket said and the fact that Cricket is a scientist. Soon Estée lauder declared the replies to not align with their company values.

There is nothing progressive or gender nonconforming about suggesting that men who like colour, or long hair, or traditionally women's clothes are actually women. It's deeply sexist and regressive.

The press release from Estée Lauder Companies explains that "The Estée Lauder Companies was recently named to the 2022 Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index, a 2021 Top Companies for Executive Women by Seramount, the Forbes’ World Top Female Friendly Companies 2021, and Comparably’s list of Best Large Companies according to female talent." Which does seem very doable if even men who work for them are called women.
