With #InWithTheNew Radio Shack wants us to know that they've (finally) changed. They tell us by illustrating the old joke "the 80s called... " adding "They want their store back."
In rushes Dee Snyder from Twisted Sister, an american olympic gymnast, Hulk Hogan, Chips cop Erik Estrada flirting with a random 80s girl, Alf, NORM!, the California Raisins, DEVO, Chuckie and Ghost Busters slime-ghost...
Why, it's as if all my childhood memories stormed the store.
For once the button serves a purpose, showing us the cleaner new Radio Shack and knowing staff that can teach you tech tricks. So, we're mining the 80's for jokes, but in this case it makes a lot of sense as the Radio Shack stores have felt very old fashioned. Now reinvented, the sleek white future store lets us play with tech toys and figure out what we'd like to get and maybe build with at home.
I'm actually going to stop by my local Radio Shack to see if they did clean out that beige carpet and chia-pet feel it had last month.
