And you know, they do have a point! This concept, which shows off Iceland's outer-worldly landscape quite well, is based on the insight that six out of ten people believe that Mars has red rocks, volcanos, and black sand. Well, you know what, Iceland has all that and hot springs too! And air! And fresh food instead of freeze-dried food. So why would you want to go to Mars when Iceland is right here? Hmm? As someone who has been to Iceland several times, it's lovely, the hot springs are great for your skin and the clean crisp beer is great too. At the very least, book a layover there.


Trivia: NASA astronauts used some of Iceland's sandy desolate areas as training grounds before their first spacewalk. 

As part of the campaign Visit Iceland promises to send up an actual billboard to space. Don't get me started on Space Billboards. Or painting the moon. You know what I think about that. Stop it with the space junk ads. Like the underwater billboards, I'll take all of that with a grain of salt.
