"Have you ever watched the movie you wanted to.... when you wanted to?....
AT&T, you will"
in the future, you will watch movies that you order straight from your TV, and say goodnight to children via video linked phonebooths!
Client: AT&T
Ad agency: N W Ayer
Voiceover: Tom Selleck
... Yeah 'cuz phonebooths are everywhere these days, amirite?

PermalinkYeah, but in '93 if the agency had pitched them on "and tuck your baby in from your cell phone," they would have been laughed out of the meeting.

PermalinkTrue, but that's what's so funny about old future visions. Like the Jetsons housewife who has a robot maid. We've got robot vacuum cleaners now, but what's a housewife? ;)

PermalinkRead some old Science Fiction - 1940's, 1950's - You'll find something like TVs and flying cars, and, oh yeah, a can opener to open up your beer!
(And we still have housewives, but most of them are multi-tasking soccer moms, or actually have very rich husbands).
