Let me explain. First there was 1996 game Duke Nukem 3D, then we waited forever for another Duke Nukem. The game has been in development since 1997!
Back in the nineties, I was the unofficial local queen of this game, making maps available for download with perfect hiding spots and walls that would make players stop to read "Dabitch was here" on them. As their avatar stood still doing that, I'd shoot them in the head. In the game, one could pay money to strippers, which players used to do much to my delight as when they were distracted I'd jump up from behind the bar and shoot them in the head. "Killed by Dabitch" would flash on every other screen every other second in big networked gaming rooms, and of course when it happened the guys would be yelling "Biiiiit.... ah." and bite their tongue. Then they'd respawn. In a spot that I had mined. "Killed by Dabitch". Rinse. Repeat. Yes, I'm a really annoying opponent.
You'd think that I would be mighty exited about this release, but no, not really. Even the ad isn't tempting me proper. Sad, isn't it? You can actually wait too long for something good. In the clip, Duke goes to the loo. Big woop.

Wow, you also like Duke Nukem? I am telling you we are match made in Sundsvall.
I remember playing it on PC with 486 processor some 20 years ago.
I am going to Webhallen today to check the XBOX version.

I miss the days when half of the comments here were kind of hitting on Dabitch. Why did that stop?

PermalinkYep yep. It's the shoot-em-up I cut my teeth on. I used to play pinball at a pinball hall, when one of my friends there (who hung around the networked computers) said he'd show me how to play Nuke'em. He spent twenty minutes flying around overhead dropping bombs on me laughing sadistically. Of course, I needed revenge. I only got so good to beat him. Pretty soon I was in charge of the network (People would hack the game conf files to have 300% air in the jetpacks and whatnot, stuff I put a stop to), and making maps. Maps with many evil camping places and all respawn spots were in mineable cramped areas. One unlucky sod was "killed by Dabitch" something like ten times in a row, once by my headshot, nine by the mines when respawning - super annoying, I'm sure. It got to the point where if I joined the game, five players would leave their consoles and walk out.
