Ben Gibbs, Jan Cilliers and Celest Gilbert Launch GIRL OVERBOARD

Film and commercial VFX Supervisor Ben Gibbs, VFX Supervisor and Lead Flame Artist, Jan Cilliers and Executive Producer Celest Gilbert launch creative studio GIRL OVERBOARD.

Gibbs is best known for his collaborations on Spike Jonze films including “Her” and “Where the Wild Things Are,” as well as numerous award-winning projects for commercial directors Lance Acord, Mark Romanek, Tarsem and Ulf Johansson. The Girl Overboard team kicked off the summer by collaborating with Park Pictures on their recent campaign for Apple.

Cilliers has a history of creating cinematic images for such films as “Star Trek,” “TRON: Legacy,” and “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End,” and commercials including campaigns for Apple, Squarespace’s recent Super Bowl spot, “A Better Web Awaits,” and Nike’s “Risk Everything.”

Gilbert and Gibbs are longtime collaborators, having worked together for seven years on numerous music videos and award-winning commercial campaigns for brands such as Nike, Adidas, Levis and Pepsi.

“Ben and Jan are an incredibly talented team, says Gilbert. “Utilizing new technology, they have developed a creative workflow that allows us to be nimble and efficient, particularly on commercial projects, where you need a high level of artistry accomplished in a short period of time.”
