The Guardians colourful campaign by W+K, UK, previously Olvietti ads?

Man, that recent campaign for The Guardian is just yummy looking isn't it? But have we seen it before...? Oh we might have..........

To the left a Poster by G. Pintori for the Olivetti Tetractys calculator created 1956 and to the right spring 2007 w+k campaign for the Guardian.

Via seven colors who got it via acejet170 who got it via beeker somehow and that's enough via's for this post - of course the whole thing can be found on wklondon.typepad.com.

Well, since the above arrow-ad seems to nod heavily at an old Olivetti design, I've just decided that my favorite in the Guardian campaign is the volume control one. I just adore how this campaign looks, intentional homage, brainsync, plagarism or not. I don't care, just keep those pastel-yummy colours coming, ya hear?

This one was the one which first caught my eye though, isn't that just marvelous?

More from G. Pintori for Olivetti because it's so damn drool-worthy.

Somewhat too alike not to be a hommage.

Well, yes. Put the two together and it's quite obvious. But then that Olivetti one with the buildings – I'm thinking Paul Klee, perhaps? Someone like that anyway. Nothing new under the sun, really. Love the Guardian campaign though –  but not as much as I love the new Adland, obviously.

Oh yes, I went googling for the painting I think you mean, and stumbled onto this Paul Klee wedding band on this page. Neat.

Yeah, I'm thinking its an intentional homage.

Oh, nice ring! Well, okay, I take the hint. You want my size, right?

Cheeky! Though your daughters name already fits in my "name the kids after computer languages" theme...

I don't know about that...

FORTRAN do your homework.
GW BASIC - How can you be failing Math?!
PL/I - Eat your broccoli.
LISP - Get to school, I don't care what they call you.

Perl, Pearl, Ada, Claire, Boo, JADE, Pascal, Ruby, Bertrand, ChucK, Einstein... Ok that last name might cause problems in school so I guess I'll just have to stick to having daughters who spell their names in a quirky manner. ;)

The Guardian one with all of the attached computer mice looks like a bunch of sperm trying to get away from the ova! [Something must have REALLY scared them].

There's a programming language called Fender Jazzmaster?

Allan1's picture

I haven't found one with that name YET.

I liked my Gibson SG Special more - with the Fender Pro-Reverb amp (with TUBES!). [The axe got stolen, but I still have the amp]. :-)

Rip-off. But a very pretty one.
