When the giant hot pink condom in Sydney was put on a landmark in Sydney last week, we had a severe sense of Deja Vu. The Aids Council of New South Wales (Acon) created the “I’m ON” campaign to encourage safe sex among gay men, but it's not the first time we've seen giant pink condoms raising Aids awareness.
Back in 1993, a giant pink condom was pulled over an obelisk at la Concorde in Paris. Back then it was a creation of Act Up, and it was to promote Aids awareness.
Which just goes to show you kids, that it's all just a little bit of history repeating. ;)
That's not all though. In 2005, the Obelisco de Buenos Aires was famously covered in a gigantic pink condom to commemorate World Aids Day.
