KFC has created a soap opera. The kind that has very wealthy people who hang around in country clubs all day long, and walk yearningly in their vast gardens. The overly dramatic kind that has seduction, deception and extorsion. A pretty typical Lifetime drama then, which is the channel where this aired.
As the holidays draw near, a young heiress contends with the affections of a suitor handpicked by her mother. When the handsome chef, Harland Sanders, arrives with his secret fried chicken recipe and a dream, he sets in motion a series of events that unravels the mother’s devious plans. Will our plucky heiress escape to her wintry happily ever after with Harland at her side, or will she cave to the demands of family and duty? Mario Lopez, Justene Alpert, Tessa Munro, Chad Doreck, Martin Mandela star.
I wonder if the target market that buys buckets of fried chicken are Lifetime watchers, but I've been told to sit down and just enjoy the chicken instead of trying to analyze this too much. Having watched the story I can assure you, it's exactly as terrible of a drama episode as you might guess. It's Days of our lives level of bad. It also features really campy lines like, “Don’t call me ‘Crouton’”. Eventually there is a happy ending, of course, but... Will it stay happy? Perhaps there will be another episode.
They talk about chicken a lot, but they never mention Kentucky or fried. Enough people have written about this and aired the teaser trailer for the world to know that Harland Sanders is Colonel Sanders.

I can picture a data analytics nerd at WK convincing KFC that it was a rousing success because "we didn't reach viewer drop off until the third minute."
