Is this a flashback or flash-forward? A retro 80s peek at what the future 2015 was going to look like according to the film "Back to the Future", where we have robots & hoverboards and Pepsi Perfect, and do we have any of this yet? Wait, we have robots that vacuum our floors and interact with us over in Japan.. We have Pepsi Perfect too - as Pepsi has decided to release a limited edition bunch of bottles for this anniversary. Pepsi is rolling out limited edition Pepsi Perfect novelty bottles, for realz. The first 1500 people to attend NYC's Comic Con later this week dressed as Marty McFly will be first in line to get in on this coveted piece of movie memorabilia.
What we don't have is hoverboards. Someone get on that, please. Hollywood futuristic flair created by Stun Creative (interviewed here), which must have been fun as they're recreating what people in the80s thought the future might look like. That robot looks like the Smash Mash robots cousin.
Ring of Fire created the VFX, and geeked out adding touches like a Cafe 80’s, and a movie theatre playing “JAWS 19”. "the ROF crew had a blast putting this one together” stated EP / VFX supervisor John Myers. “we referenced the film a lot and visual effects created in 1985. we wanted to put our own spin on things while trying to stay true to how the future was envisioned back in the day. it was a pretty wild 'mind game' at times, but a really fun project from start to finish"
