I built this website. From scratch. Including the servers.
Right, knowing that Hardy's and Carls JR are the same same but different - I was kindof expecting the PR person to be clever and say things like: "This mechanical Bull ad never ran for Hardy's until 2003", yah? But for all I know they did say that, the quote at adrants was more in the way Steve saying what they told him, rather than a direct Quote.
Over at Steve Halls blog they've just (re?)discovered this ad, and Steve says: "the PR contact at the company told me the spot first ran in August of this year." - If you take his word for it then have Hardyys/Carls Jr relaunched a year old ad in order to get attention, or is the PR contact dizzy? What gives?
I'll give 'em ten points for gung-ho "lets do it" 'tude, but jebus what a terrible ad. The ham fisted writing, the cheap execution, the horrible music, the stiff acting, and let the mandatory boob shot rest will yas? Sheesh.
A stunt like that (I love the stunt don't get me wrong) can still only be 'won' with one ace idea, and I'm afraid this isn't it.
SInce Telemak hosted the TMF awards and webcast... Perhaps these ads were part of it down there in Belgium?
That extra battery power one was pretty boring. (IMHO)
