Alkemy X adds director Scott Ross to talent roster

Alkemy X’s talent roster continues to expand with the addition of Director Scott Ross. Ross brings extensive experience to his new role at Alkemy X, including a variety of work in the industries of fashion, experimental film, music videos, fine art, commercial advertisements and virtual reality.

“I’ve followed Alkemy X’s work for many years and was really glad to hear that they saw potential in my work,” says Ross. “It’s exciting to partner with a company with a ton of industry experience, talent and technical resources that weren’t available to me up until this point.”

Ross previously worked at Urban Outfitters as the brand’s Senior Director/Producer where he oversaw all brand videos from conception through post-production. Additionally in 2012, Ross co-produced, directed and edited “The World of Lisa Frank”, a documentary lauded as a Vimeo Staff Pick and reviewed by The Atlantic, Huffington Post and Jezebal, among others.

“Scott is an extremely talented young director with tremendous creative instincts,” notes Jim Huie, Executive Producer at Alkemy X. “We know that we will be able to do great work with him, and truly believe in his innate talent.”

The addition of Ross adds to Alkemy X’s talented directorial team, which already features: Robert Adamo, James Bartolomeo, Glenn Holsten, Kris Magyarits, Rob Markopoulos, John Romeo, Bernie Roux, Bex Schwartz and Scott Whitham.

Bio: Director Scott Ross Scott's directing style is founded on his love for sharp, irreverent comedy, fine art, and experimental filmmaking. He made a name for himself directing music videos for indie artists like Wet, Big Freedia and Toro y Moi while spearheading Urban Outfitters' in-house digital content department, where he spent four years directing hundreds of videos including fashion films, branded documentary pieces, live music specials, and short comedy pieces. One stand-out project was the Urban Outfitters-produced documentary "The World of Lisa Frank," which was chosen as a Vimeo Staff Pick and sparked a firestorm of 90's nostalgia on the internet, with write-ups by The Atlantic, The Huffington Post, Jezebel, and It's Nice That. Most recently, he's directed brand identity documentaries for Milagro Tequila and Hendricks Gin, and video content for Columbia Records. In 2015, the Tribeca Film Festival honored Scott for his directing and editing work on his comedy web series "The Adventures of Jamel: The Time-Travelling B-Boy.
