Once again super adgrunt hlebarov has created a little collection of Badlandian ads. This time the common thread is football and dogs. (That's "soccer" to you north americans). I know football and beer goes together but so does football and dogs, it seems. The formula for this reads: dogs + soccer fan = animal cruelty
These first two are practically married - the ideas are so similar and you can see the punchline coming in both of them.
which is more or less exactly the same premise as this ad. Sans house burning.
My my! Did he just kick that poor widdle doggie? Well, he's not alone! See this Umbro ad.
And now this guy!
Now if anyone can explain the reason for this mysterious syncronicity I'd be much obliged.
Shame they couldn't be more creative, like use a cat, hamster, rabbit, etc. Very weird ad meme there.

PermalinkCan I be honest? I don't think any of them are funny. They're all:
1) quite predictable and 2) poor widdle puppies waaah!

PermalinkThey were meant to be funny??

PermalinkAnd the social scientists are wondering why animal cruelty is at its highest level for a century or more... While these are presented to the public as comedy.

PermalinkNeither of these ads are very funny at all, just quite cruel which is I guess what made them become "viral" in the first place (remember the first rule of viral. Pick one: Nudity. Violence. Animal cruelty. All of the above.) but it is very strange that they are so similar. Might they all be based on some previous viral (not ad) clip? Like that old horsekick clip that later became some airline commercial.
