A while ago MaketheLogoBigger posted The great Art Director Escape, and I see now that adding funny subtitles to this film has become a bit of a meme like LOLcats. Der Untergang is a thoroughly impressive depressive movie where Bruno Ganz portrays Adolf Hitler so realistically you'd think it was a documentary. I saw it twice in the movie theatres, once without subtitles (and I don't speak German!).

Is that first one a self promo for an Art Director? It's a bit negative about his former employer isn't it? Also, he's a hell of a writer, this Art Director.

PermalinkIf you happen to be one of the 105 million or so people who speak German, then these just aren't funny. That is, unless you turn the volme off. And then they're only mildly amusing. :(

PermalinkHaving been thoroughly depressed by the film (twice!) I could only find the funny by guessing my reaction if I hadn't seen the film. It's a great film. The 'girls movie night posse' I'm with tend to choose heavy films that require a lot of drinking afterward, and that was the only time we all got so sad we called it night right after the movie.
