The old "Mom, Dad, I have something to tell you," rug pull gets an gay themed update for a website called Previously Owned By A Gay Man. In it, a son "comes out" to his parents, explaining that he in fact has bought his amazing looking furniture and decorations from Previously Owned By A Gay Man Dot Com. The website, by the way, is a place where gay men can sell their home furnishings. Because it is a well-known and fully accepted fact that all gay men have taste.
Beyond the obvious set up, there is a much larger issue with the spot. If your protagonist is delivering lines like "it's all from previously owned by a gay man, dot com," and mentions the website three times, and continues by saying "anyone can try it..decorators, designers or anyone who wants their place to look good," all I can say is, "your brief is showing."

Agreed. Cute kernel of an idea that comes up short.

PermalinkKind of annoyed by the entire store concept myself. But I guess you have to stand out some way, even if it is by an old stereotype.
