LGBTQ group The Human Rights Campaign urges Bud Light to reaffirm support for trans community amid backlash over Dylan Mulvaney partnership

Anheuser-Busch gets called out for weak response to trans influencer backlash - HRC says "be more than just liquid courage!" The Human Rights Campaign is the nation’s largest LGBTQ civil rights organization.

A senior vice president at the Human Rights Campaign Foundation wrote a letter to Anheuser-Busch's head of human resources, Jay Brown, criticizing the company's response to the controversy as inadequate and lacking courage, demanding Anheuser-Busch do more.

“In this moment, it is absolutely critical for Anheuser-Busch to stand in solidarity with Dylan and the trans community. However, when faced with anti-LGBTQ+ and transphobic criticism, Anheuser-Busch’s actions demonstrate a profound lack of fortitude in upholding its values of diversity, equity, and inclusion to employees, customers, shareholders and the LGBTQ+ community.
This not only lends credence to hate-filled rhetoric, it exposes Anheuser-Busch to long-term business impacts with employees and customers increasingly looking for steadfast commitment to LGBTQ+ corporate citizenships.”

Meanwhile, the social media kids have found the Bud Light controversy to be an endless source of amusing skits. Here a guy claims he's drunk Bud Light all his life, and he hasn't changed, so he doesn't care about the controversy.

An another skit, a man who is handed a can of bud light instantly turns into a pink-boa-clad drag queen worrying about breaking his nails after the first sip.

Responding to the criticism of its partnership with Mulvaney, Anheuser-Busch CEO Brendan Whitworth gave a statement "We never intended to be part of a discussion that divides people." the statement continued with “We are in the business of bringing people together over beer.” and reminded readers that Anheuser-Busch has “thousands of partners, millions of fans and a proud history of supporting our communities, military, first responders, sports fans and hard-working Americans everywhere.”

Meanwhile, Alissa Heinerscheid the marketing exec who was responsible for the Dylan Mulvany partnership was put on a leave of absence.

The Human Rights Campaign is clearly putting the squeeze on Anheuser-Busch, threatening to slash the company's perfect score on the Corporate Equality Index unless it bends to their demands. HRC's Jay Brown has sent a stern letter to Anheuser-Busch's head of HR, demanding that company execs meet with HRC to discuss a laundry list of recommendations - including a groveling public statement reaffirming the company's support for transgender folks. But apparently, Anheuser-Busch is playing hard to get - they've turned down several meeting requests from HRC, and haven't responded to media inquiries. Looks like HRC is turning up the heat on the beer giant, insisting that they start kowtowing to the LGBTQ+ community, pronto!
