Pursettes "They've discovered the tiny tampon that's right even for single girls" 1964

Back in 1964, this advert appeared in Seventeen magazine in the United States, touting a tampon without the bulky applicator.

"They've discovered the tiny tampon that's right, even for single girls" the copy reads, insinuating that a large tampon can't be worn by a "single girl" somehow.

This was addressing a widespread myth at the time, that tampons weren't something a virgin could wear.

The pre-lubricated tip allowed very young girls to insert the tampon unassisted by clumsy applicators, and it became a popular teenage brand.
