Steam Films Signs Voyager Co-Founder and Director Charles Frank for Canadian Representation

Toronto-based, woman-owned production company Steam Films is thrilled to announce the signing of Voyager Co-Founder & Director Charles Frank for exclusive Canadian representation. Renowned for his emotionally driven storytelling, Frank’s work spans commercial and documentary projects for Jack Daniel’s, McDonald's and DICK’s Sporting Goods, amongst many others. His acclaimed short films, “Lost In My Mind” released by The New Yorker and the viral documentary “Junk Mail” featured on The Atlantic, further highlight his powerful narrative style.

"As soon as I met Carling, Jill, Jenn and Krista, it became immediately clear why Steam has such a glowing reputation: they are genuine, supportive, fun, and determined," shares Frank. "I've always believed that the work is just as important as the people you work with and we share in that value. I feel so lucky to have met this team and to join such an incredibly talented roster of filmmakers."

Passionate about filmmaking from an early age, Frank began his production career in high school as a behind-the-scenes documentarian for an indie narrative feature film directed and produced by Voyager Co-Founder, Andrew Hutcheson. Their friendship and collaboration on various commercial projects grew over time, leading to the launch of their Brooklyn-based production company, Voyager, in 2015. Celebrated for his commitment to connecting audiences to the stories they watch, Frank’s work has garnered millions of views online and has been featured in prominent outlets such as The New Yorker, The New York Times, Huffington Post and Short of the Week, earning numerous Vimeo Staff Picks for his exceptional storytelling. Charles aims to prove the transformative power of small, intimate and empathetic documentaries in changing viewers' perspectives, one person at a time.

"We are beyond excited to welcome Charles to the Steam family,” shares Carling Acthim, Steam Films Executive Producer/Head of Sales. “His deeply empathetic storytelling leaves a lasting impact; he’s immensely talented and overall, just a great human being to work with. Charles is the perfect addition to our team, and we’re eager to see the incredible work we'll create together."
