TurboTax has partnered with actor and comedian Adam DeVine, in their newest ad encouraging people to “break up” with their old way of doing taxes and give TurboTax Full Service a try.
It's a tax break...up. Get it? It's got a very 90's boy band vibe.
The spot launches across linear, radio, streaming, and digital channels and will be featured across major upcoming TV events like the American Music Awards, SNL Season Opener, Sunday and Monday Night Football, College Football, NFL, and MLB playoffs.
This is the first time TurboTax has come out with a campaign this early in the year. Makes sense as no one thinks about taxes until it's too late. But there's also a nice incentive to do just that. because if you switch to TurboTax Full Service before Dec. 20th and file your 2024 taxes by April 1, 2025 you are are guaranteed a minimum 10% reduction in the fees you would have otherwise paid your licensed tax preparer last tax season. So it's almost like getting a larger refund.
The "break up with fill-in-the-blank" is a well-trodden one in advertising tropes, but it's still funny. And considering how bad the economy has been for so many people, any bit of levity helps.
