ANd she's out. Adage
After nearly two years as chairman-CEO of Young & Rubicam Brands and its troubled Y&R advertising network, Ann Fudge is being replaced as head of the Y&R network, according to a company statement.
Currently in the second year of a three-year contract that ends in May 2006, Mrs. Fudge will continue as chairman-CEO, according to the statement.
Mrs. Fudge was unavailable for comment. A spokeswoman said she was traveling and couldn't be reached.
Like deep.ed hints at in the third comment the Norwegian version of the ad has been accused of being a plagiarized idea as well. In fact it was disqualified from the Norwegian ad awards Gullblyanten because the jury there thought that it was too close to this Fox Sports commercial.
"Now, if someone else is accused of copying us then the circle will be complete, said Paal Tarjei Aasheim strategy director from McCann in Norway to Resume. "One thing is certain this Swedish poster would never have been allowed to compete in Norway."
Oh yeah, that was ages ago though, I forget the song.
The cool stages that change seems to be a bit of an executional trend right now, see also this Snickers ad for another neat stage-change.
Silly me, you can find all of the streaker-event here in Caff's article Streakers on the run in ads.
It's not so much the same idea here as it is the same exact execution. In the Adidas one they encourgae people to dare to do it - Nike style if you will. In the DE Coffee one they say and show situations without kitchens where you still can have coffee as long as you have hot water. It's sortof the tv-commercial equivalent of the twin Nazi and Meat posters, as if someone simply put tracing paper on the first commercial and copied it. :)
While I can see that these two posters look like they're part of the same campaign with their extremly similar feet-ideas and awesomely synced executions, I don't think the Fox Sports guy putting on his babies diapers with his feet is that similar. Even though the basic (I wanna keep doing X with hands, so I use feet for other things) is there. If we're going to go that far, then all of a sudden the Gene Kelly Golf GTI dancing commercial will have to be compared to the Ebay "My way" ads and the damn late nineties Gap dancing ads. Because they all feature dancing. Do we really wanna go there?
Also, it has nothing to do with My Left Foot the movie about a man born with cerebral palsy who only had control over his left foot. Whoever said that was either on (bad) drugs, or being extremly sarcastic.
All IMHO of course, your milage may vary.
The original "streaker" on a footie-field was for Nike but then everyone had to spoof it, so Terry Tate Quarterback for Reebok slams the poor streaker in their version of the ad. Just search on the word "streaker" and you'll find them all. :P
