A new Volkswagen costs only $1,595. So you might think that a used one costs next to nothing.
Wrong.
Used VWs cost plenty.
The fact is, a Volkswagen depreciates less than any other car in the world. A 5-year-old Volkswagen is worth just as much as many 5-year-old domestic cars that cost twice as much to begin with.
Why would anyone sooner buy a 5-year-old VW than a 5-year-old something else?
Because most 5-year-old cars look 5 years old. But not a Volkswagen.
Expensive used.
Soap and water makes any VW look like this year's. The VW also has a great reputation for putt-putting right past repair shops.
And for growing old gracefully.
You can get parts for the oldest VW as easily as for the newest; most are interchangeable from year to year.
This is what it boils down to: the VW has turned out to be the best car investment you can make. New or used. So, if you can't find that cheap, secondhand VW you've always wanted, you still have an out. Buy a new one.
And use it.
