I built this website. From scratch. Including the servers.
So, this daft campaign is now in the shopwindows, larger-than-life, on my street. As I passed it with my friend I commented on the poster. He checked them out and said: "When truth spreads? What truth? Are there lies spreading? What are the lies then? What do they mean? I know how AIDS spreads, do they?" he then shook his head and walked on.
Hindight is 20/20. ;)
I didn't list adland up there as I didn't want the 'spotlight' to be on our own little community here but the bigger picture of the damage it can do to communities in general. Of course, now that I see that they removed all of those URL's but they still haven't removed our listing (I've asked them via email several times, as recently as last night even) I regret not posting it up there as that seems the most effective way to get de-listed. Sadly. (the exact opposite happened for our url, two fresh new logins appeared on bugmenot after I made this post. Gaah!)Email public AT bugmenot.com if your site needs to get delisted. Good luck.
aye, like I said on the Studio Muscle blog (the creators of this spoof): *small golf applause*.
Apparantly they had some cow trouble while shooting this ad. ;)
I'm just quoting the Hollywood police website, where the Hollywood Police department says exactly that. (scroll down to beneath the booking photos). Who knows if a white collar criminal could prevent booking photos from being published left and right, when famous people can't - recall Hugh Grant, Bill Gates, Michael Jackson, James brown.. and I think I saw Nick Nolte in some ad for hairdressers... Yet nobody has been sued.
When there is no information hidden from non-registered users - like in the communities mentioned above - then what's the point? The only advantage a logged in user has is that they can comment. Participating in the community is the only thing a logged in user can do.
For places like blogspot.com, Flickr, blogshares bloggerforum... photobucket, del.icio.us, shutterfly, bloglines, Technorati, typekey it's just plain weird....
blogspot.com, Flickr, blogshares bloggerforum... etc and so on.
