Can see the ending coming a mile away and I have no idea what a dog has to do with Dr pepper. I'm not sure how adopting a dog makes you one of a kind. Judging by my Facebook feed, every other friend is doing this. While I like the story telling here and the dog is of course cute in every way, it still makes me ask how this is really unique to Dr pepper. I could see this working with a Coke or Pepsi truck or a beer truck for that matter. But I guess since we're coming up on Super Bowl season, we need to add animals...

Maybe so, especially with your interpretation, but I took it as a "one of a kind" dog finding a "one of a kind" connection.
It was touching and a unique ad. Sometimes one can look at something and interpret it as obvious. Or, instead, look for and find the difference. The Komondor is intentionally a dreadlock/corded/tasseled dog, as well as, intelligent, loving and protective. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Komondor
How about considering that the dog has adopted the equally unique, special Dr. Pepper driver? My comments are only to encourage a more positive consideration, and not as an argument or insult.

PermalinkLethalink, the dog in the commercial is a Puli, not a Komondor.
The ad strikes me as a cross between old Clydesdales ads and Bud Light, only not very funny nor very emotional.

PermalinkDr Pepper is different but special -- not a cola. The dog in this ad, a Puli, is also different and special. Both, in some ways, are one of a kind. This is the linkage. The full tag line is "Be true to yourself and you'll never be lost... Dr Pepper. Always Be One of a Kind." Admittedly the point is to get people to watch and maybe remember the ad.
