Big brother returns from West Africa (note the funky wrapping paper) to a little sister who is so excited to see him that she's been waiting at the window all morning, ready to put the Folgers on. The story in "Coming Home" is simple, but somehow it gets a little weird. The little sister puts the star bow from the gift onto her brother's shoulder, declaring "You're my gift this year."
Now, even as a little sister who stuck star bows in my big brother's hair every Christmas since I was three years old, I can see how this awkward moment is somehow veering a little too far into awkward land. Yikes.
This ad is actually a reference to the Folgers "Peter Comes Home For Christmas" ad which was far more successful and ran for seventeen years.
