Almap BBDO went through over 5000 Getty Images to make a one minute story showing a love story where they meet, hold hands, kiss, copulate, procreate, make big family, die.... and then the widower wins big on bingo and has the time of his life, he's on a boat. Party! Wait! What was all that stuff before then? Un-party? Pfft, and y'all call me cynical. Apparently Bingo-win tops love-win. Not buying it. Also, I'm not sure "five thousand images so similar we can almost make a seamless animation from it" is such a great feature. Seems to me it reinforces "stock photography all looks the same". Oh. right. That's truth in advertising. Well then, carry on. It also repeats the old female-centric white people sex things where we see a lot more of her skin than his, and after that we have more little old man than little old ladies. I feel like I'm not gonna be loved when I'm 64. Thanks Brazilian boys, for reminding me of my breeding place, even though I'm sure you didn't even realize. Also, awesome idea. You all watched it. Twice too, didn't you? There's 873 images in this stop motion, and before long I'm sure it'll have 873 million views online. Why not. Everyone is talking about it. Because eight hundred pictures of "family holding hands" and "walk on the beach" are far more exiting when made into an animation, than they are when you get them as your search results when you're burning the midnight oil on that mind-numbingly boring corporate brochure seeking the perfect image of businessmen in suits running down a racetrack.

Did you spot the error with image 86? The numbers go from 85 to 186 and then change again at 100.
And the line sucks.
So, in other words, a bronze.

Permalink...or perhaps even a really-rushed-just-to-win-cannes-but-never-actually-aired-yet idea? Because honestly if they spent as long as some reports say on it, the numbers would eff up etc.

PermalinkBingo win does not top love win.

PermalinkTrue dat.
Also, the more I think about it, the less likely I find the idea of Getty paying for this to air anywhere. Keep an eye out for it in the internet-film style categories in Cannes.

PermalinkThis is only a great idea as in "Cannes winning", not as in driving sales.
