Movie fans, SIFF is one big party, or that's what this campaign seems to say. Some excellent digital trickery by "We Are Royale" has scenes from SIFF favourites such as Knocked Up, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, West Side Story, March of the Penguins, Carrie, Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back, merging together as if all of this is happening at one happening club. The film footage underscores the party’s energy as it builds to a fever pitch; with the face-melting moment from Raiders of the Lost Ark as climax.
“This year, WONGDOODY tapped into the notion that movies speak a universal language,” said SIFF Festival Director and Chief Curator Carl Spence. “The celebration concept was a perfect way to honor the spirit of the Festival and also capture the transformative emotions – excitement, joy, anticipation – that filmgoers feel when they sit down in a cinema. WONGDOODY has a pitch-perfect record for creating highly original campaigns that go way beyond hitting the mark, surpassing their previous efforts year over year. The high-energy excitement they have created warrants frequent and repeat viewing. I will never get tired of this campaign. Ever!"
“Collaborating with SIFF is one of the favorite things we look forward to every year, and it was a real treat this year to take the celebration theme and run with it,” commented Tracy Wong, Chairman and Co-Founder of WONGDOODY. “There’s so much good footage to incorporate, but we wanted to keep the audience on its toes – so even though we start with a few typical bar and party scenes, we also got to incorporate some familiar but more unexpected moments, which we think SIFF fans will appreciate.”
"We wanted to maintain a sense of levity in the piece," added Brien Holman, Partner and Executive Creative Director of We Are Royale. "It's meant to be a lighthearted take on a raging party. The slightly twisted climax sends the party into pandemonium, literally melting the face off of the partygoers. SIFF is an intense festival, filled with die-hard fans, young and old. Our cast reflects that diversity, finally giving us a reason to have a middle-aged woman shred the dance floor, while our hero steals Heather Graham's heart."
