I've lived in the same apartment building for two years, and have seen neighbors exactly twice. Even on the elevator we're quick to pull out our phones to avoid contact. It's because technology has made us so insular. The only solution is to shove your dining room into the apartment hallway so you can force some interaction with your neighbors and have a central-casting idea of a diverse group of new friends "out" for dinner including the old man who scrounges up a bottle of wine for the occasion. And it's all set to a diabetes-causing cover of Dionne Warwick's already saccharine 1966 hit "What the world needs now is love." This two and a half minute spot (which ideally would have been no longer than 45 seconds) is pure fantasy of course, but a pleasant enough one. appropriately nerdy looking woman is planning on making their hallway potluck dinners a weekly event, complete with an array of gluten-free vegan desserts, and an aprés dinner adult-coloring book session. Good times. Jokes aside, #EatTogether is nice, and they could turn that into a larger (and more realistic) platform. I'd like to believe somewhere a copywanker did his best to try and sell #EatOut and get away with it.
