This ad for Reebok features Kendrick Lamar in Compton, freestyling and telling his story. According to Pitchfork, Reebok's press release says this film features kids from Centennial High School where he went to school as well. It's actually quite a moving story about a guy who came from a less-than-idea childhood, coming back to that neighborhood as a success, to be a role model and an example of what is possible. Oh yeah, Kendrick is also pairing up to design shoes with Reebok, putting his own special mark on the Ventilator will drop on June 2015.
Reebok's site had this to say:
Committed to continuously pushing boundaries through partnerships with some of the biggest names in the industry, Reebok has taken the fusion of music and footwear to a whole new level with Kendrick Lamar. Together, we hope to inspire and empower youth to become their best selves through programs designed to provide a positive alternative to the streets.
