Orion, Canada, isn't just a small town. It has a population of 7. This fantastic short by Sean Thompson of Supply & Demand, centers around one of the inhabitants, Boyd Stevens. It tells the story of the slow, steady decline of a small piece of rural Alberta and the one man who stubbornly refuses to leave when everyone else has long since abandoned it for other pastures.
It's one part study of existence, another part an ode to bygone days of small town charm when residents knew and cared about each other. Set against the backdrop of the Canadian prairies, it's also quite beautiful. If you are going to watch one piece of long form content today, do yourself a favor-- make it this one.
