A good gin is fit for a queen—a great gin is named for one. Throughout history, there were none quite like Britain’s Queen Victoria. That’s partly what makes Victoria Gin, Canada’s first premium gin, so special: it’s named after one of the most unique matriarchs in history.
This spot for the spirited namesake brand, created by Toronto-based Entrinsic and directed by Christopher Wahl, raises a glass to Queen Victoria, recounting her reign with some truly unexpected (yet entirely true) facts: She ruled the British Empire at 18 while still living with her mum; she married her first cousin and had nine children; she was almost assassinated seven times. To top it all off, she also gave us Canadians a much welcome long weekend in May—yesterday was Victoria Day in Canada—and that’s worth celebrating in itself.
Wahl also shot the print campaign, which will launch later in 2014. Victoria Gin is handmade in small bathes with a gleaming copper pot still by Victoria Spirits, a family-owned distillery in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.
