Monday may 23 www.redeyedbaby.com went up and had a few films on it. A week later it was taken down...Fortunately it was up long enough for people to download the films..... ;)
Update: Dear Suits; I'm not going to tell you who - if anyone - emailed me this, so stop asking me such silly questions please. It might have been your exec assistant. Your PA. The director. The planner. The gaffer. Your mum. The Creative Director. Who knows. It could have been me. You do remember that the viral site was live for like a full week, don't you? So no, I am not removing this.
www.redeyedbaby.com was the viral websites URL, sadly google never cached it.
The site was in German and up as late as yesterday, I spotted first on Monday the 23 of May. Today it's all gone and redirecting to Olympus normal page. Anyone have a screendump of the www.redeyedbaby.com site?
i see why the client axed it - it's just not any good imho...
the copy is simply unreasonable, but i guess they can have changed it for the viral, or what?

PermalinkLet me get this straight, they had a viral site up for a week and now they're pissed that you posted about it? What the hell is wrong with people once on the web, always on the web trying to remove is is like trying to put the genie back in the bottle.
shmulikber, what do you mean by "copy is unreasonable"? I liked it.

Permalinki meant the part about deleting the kid. cant relate to it, cant feel it...
btw, is the kid's red eyes some homage to the terminator? coz in the second movie (and third-yuck) the guy with the red eyes was good if im not mistaken. :)

PermalinkThey had me they had me they had me.....and then the ending is really lame.
"Would you save or delete a red-eyed baby" could not possibly be any clunkier.
"I don't want it in here. Can you get rid of it?" - This language is entirely wrong. It makes no sense if the intent is to metaphorize the idea of deleting photographs.
And putting a baby in the closet isn't "getting rid of it". Throwing a baby in the garbage or out the window is getting rid of it. And that would cause people to riot at Olympus head office.
I think this is kind of a shabby and half-baked idea and it's a shame it wasn't fully thought out. But then again, it was never originally created as a real ad, so the mistakes are more forgivable.
p.s. to shmulikber: red eye. RED EYE. You take a picture and the flash makes people have RED EYES.

He was being sarcastic.
Take off eh.

PermalinkEven if I can agree that the end line was a little off balance, everyone here thought it was hilarious...
But then, if the original site was in German that might just explain why

PermalinkOh my God ehehe ... starts with the best of the intentions and ... yep I kind of understand why in the end it triggers a bad reaction on the majority of the people outside the ad biz.

PermalinkYeah, this could have been done better. I think the music for one added too much of a creepy edge to it. It seems that this is another case of someone deciding the dialogue would work because whoever is in the decision making process thinks it sounds good without actually testing it bettter. All in all, possibly good concept ruined by poor execution.

PermalinkI thought it was fun. Good viral. And more fun is the suits trying to decapitate those who have done what expected when coming to viral-marketing.

PermalinkTo be honest it pisses me right off that this posting apparantly grates some people while later I find the ad is posted on BEAM TV and seeding sites like Kontraband. WTF??
